So were you a trouble maker too in high school during the 60s? I was. My friends were coming home in boxes right and left. We had a bad president then too. And a terrible stupid war being lead by the rich and powerful.
I did register. I didn't run. I was 1A. But then one day I got a 1H card. I was lucky and I never forget it.
At my own graduation I wore a black armband and refused to stand for the flag and sing the nationalist anthem. I had long hair. The far right then in school tried to beat me up. Called me a commie. But they failed and I was the one that was sent to detention for fighting back and winning.
My dad always told me never back down from a fight even if your out numbered. Amazing how effective you can be when out numbered with a baseball bat. After all I was a scrawny thin guy but I had spirit.
I'd still have my long hair to this day is I wasn't slowly going bald.
I'm still that same guy today. I never sold out, cut my hair and joined the establishment like so many others did.
All this shit going down and "hey there what's that sound" is only given rise to my anti establishment spirit that's always been there.
How about we just make the world great.
Mary and I love you Ann. We are doing our bit. I didn't think I'd be doing this at 73 years of age. But we are. You have the guts.
Lately I've been thinking about my willingness to engage in non-violent civil disobedience. It's a time honored tradition and my right as an American citizen. I hope I will have the guts to stand up again and protest the current crisis. I don't want to say I did nothing when my freedoms and my country were in peril.
